The Chinese Sword (劍; pinyin: jiàn), also called the “King of Weapons” is a traditional double-edged weapon that can be traced back 2500 years. In modern times, Tai Chi and other martial arts practitioners benefit from sword practice because it contains a lot of Yang energy. By using the “middle way” we combine this Yang energy with Ying energy's flowing movements to increase flexibility and joint mobility. Practicing the Tai Chi sword then becomes not a weapon but a conduit for our energy to extend around and through our body. This practice can especially benefit the shoulders, wrists, and fingers.
